Ok,

The following link lists all the top social bookmarking sites

Now it seems to me on alot of these sites we can create a profile and within our profile add links to our blogs. Although we cannot really participate in these social sites as we are promoting porn and this is usually against the TOS.

So i assume the purpose is via our profiles being present on all these high ranked sites we add backlinks to our blogs in the hope that SEO will pick them up.

So we are not expecting traffic to come from these sites themselves, just that we have scattered more backlinks to our blogs across the internet?

Is this correct? And is it worth it?

Yes, sometimes google finds the links in profiles. But the huge amount of traffic will still go to non-adult blogs only. It's a pitty - or a chance to promote some non-adult stuff like Moreniche

Well yes building blogs can be time consuming but so is going out there and trying to generate traffic.

Adding backlinks here and there in itself is more to improve a blogs PR rather than a source of traffic in itself. In my limited experience with the porn blogs i would say my se traffic had crept up to about 13% - judicious use of keywords can help here.

Then there is adding your sig into forum posts which can generate traffic, and also add more backlinks, iv had quite a bit of traffic from these and look to join more forums, but heres the funny thing its more to generate traffic to my blogs than to take part in the forum - so too time consuming here.

Then there is the adult directories always wanting reciprocal links, pinging directories seem to be the way to go here but twans directories are not capable of this and his blogs dont build in ping support. It seems some people have moved to different hosts etc to exploit this avenue - a bit more than im willing to do at the moment.

Other sources are adding comments to blogs etc where you can find relevent ones

So thats it? Anymore great sources of traffic?

No.
You need backlnks for traffic and for SE ranking. Not the same thing at all as PR.

As to traffic sources...
If you don't want to go the SE route and develop backlinks and relevant content for the spiders to pick up on (and relevant content is much more important imho than just verbose content on its own), then you really need to be developing your own avenues of traffic, so that people can find your blogs.

You already have Yahoo groups. You could make more on other sources (Google for example).

Those pinging adult directories you have discovered, plus some good adult directories which experience will tell you what works and what does not. Look on other adult webmaster forums for directories, links, etc. Once you cut through the crap you can find some gems of info there.

Link trades within your own niche. But be very choosy.

Adult social bookmarking ('Digg-type' sites) are best used for backlinks, but do bring the ocassional sale.

Your own blogs in the same or very similar niche. Build more blogs on your own hosting or on other adult free hosts to drive your traffic.

Submit your 'less worthy' blogs to the directories, then it doesn't matter so much about those traffic leaks and, with links from these going to your main selling blogs, you have your own traffic stream.

But Don't link your main blogs back to your 'less worthy' blogs.

They are different. Pick a term and search it, then use your google tool bar to see the PR of each site. The top site is not necesarrily the one with the highest page rank. In my opinion(and it is just opinion) the ONLY thing that PR is good for is if your selling links. Getting links to similar pages, and having them named the term your going after seems much more important. A good exercise to understand this, is look at some of the directories you use, and what the term or name of there link is that they want you to use. Search that term, and if they are a large directory, they should come out towards the top of the search results for that phrase because of all the backlinks they have with that name.

the dreaded and much overhyped PR used to be the most important consideration when trying to rank on google. nowadays though it is just one of over a hundred factors in their se ranking.
