Default Advice for a new blogger but experienced panty seller

I've had my little blog up for a few months now, and it seems to be going well. I'm certainly having fun. I originally built it to serve a couple of purposes:

1. First and foremost I sell my used panties, and I wanted to build a website that would allow me to give some information about me, what I do, what I won't do LOL, and about how to buy from me. Of course I also wanted to use it to showcase my panties for sale.

2. Secondly I've been into the panty fetish for several years and selling for nearly three, and I'm excited by panties and everything about them. In this regard I'm using my site as an actual blog, although I have been neglecting it somewhat lately. But it's so much fun

But lately since I've been more involved in these forums I'm seeing that I may be able to use my blog more in the fashion that most of you guys seem to, that is, as a revenue center in its own right through referral, affiliate business with pay porn sites etc.

I wouldn't want my site to be overrun with promos for other sites, as I'd still like it to be primarily for me and my interests. So maybe just one of two that I particularly like. I'd only want to build relationships with sites that I like to visit, and are kind of related to what I do, so apart from some panty sites, others like Abby Winters, Inthecrack, Ishotmyself, Ron Harris etc

So at the risk of possibly creating more competition in the "industry", my questions are:

1. Are there any threads or resources here in this forum or otherwise that explain how a newbie blogger, like yours truly, could go about it?

2. What sort of money is there to be made by it?

3. What level of monthly traffic does my site need to have to make it worthwhile? I'm happy with what I'm generating, but I don't know what's good, and what's not, after only being up for three months. I'm certainly not lacking for business though LOL. BTW Google Analytics is awesome!

So any advice from all of you old-heads?

Thanks so much. Mwuahh xxx

I can't answer all your questions as I'm a noob myself. Only been doing adult stuff for a few months. But what I can tell you is to build separate blogs of related info to yours to attract attention and link it to your main selling blog. Kind of like a funnel.

Say you make 10 blogs with related content. You advertise your main christyspanties blog on it so try and send the visitors to it. And of course you interlink all your blogs of related content for backlinks to help in your search engine rankings.

You can also contact the sites you've found to see if you can trade links.

As for content for your main blog, personally I find sex toys and lingerie sponsors to be a good fit. And if you are interested and I may be so bold, here are 2 sponsors I work with if you are interested.

Default Um WOW

Christy, let me start off with "nice fingernails" Ok, that gives it away, I went to your blog, I think if you were to write a story about joining a dating site on your blog, and just put a text link in the blog you would do very well. You can set up an account at a dating site and have the guys chase you, but the point is if they think there is a shot they are going to join.

Something like, you found a guy on so and so site and planned to meet him at so and so place and tease him with your panties, etc. Basically tell a sexy story about a "rendevous" your thinking about or something and have a link to your profile that they of course have to join to see.

Dating sites pay from $40ish to $130. Adult Friend Finder pays $130 even if the guy joins for $19.95 You can post similar pictures to your blog continuing to be anonymous. Just an idea, I tried to get someone else to do, she got one check and crackheaded out on me

EDIT: Belated happy bday!

Hello.
I've been an online retailer, in both porn and mainstream, for a little over 10 years. IMHO, you are in an EXCELLENT niche and should NOT LOSE FOCUS. You have the potential for making a considerable amount of money.

Your main, and only focus, should be to drive customers to your web store. You need worldwide exposure. Orgasmic has the right idea. Build sites/blogs that are intended to drive traffic to your web store, and, ONLY your store.

What you do not want to do with customers that reach your sites is to send them elsewhere via 'traffic leaks'. If they've come to your site in the first place, they are already VERY interested/motivated in your product.

I would lose the links to other panty sites and other panty blogs. They are just traffic leaks, and, they are not making you any money. Like Orgasmic said, build a network of sites that direct traffic to your main selling site, and, ONLY TO YOUR SITE.

If you want to sell mens, build a site for men and don't intermingle the two. If I'm looking for womens panties, I certainly don't want to see men's, and vice versa. You can build the same network of sites to drive traffic to your men's sites.

Concentrate on your core product. Don't lose focus, and, more importantly, don't let the customer lose focus on your product.

You will make more money faster this way, than if you were to do a 'little of this, and a little of that'.

Hi Christy,
basically, Orgasmic and Bakdoor have given you some great advice.

And, sorry Neb, but there is no way in a million years I would advise Christy to use AFF, for many reasons, but mainly because she is selling panties and the experience of panties. As Bakdoor says, Christy need to keep her focus there.

And don't link trade on your main blog. Keep it to yourself.
Submit the feeder blogs to directories and link trade on those by all means, but don't have any traffic leaks on your main blog - this has to be your main money maker.

As you know, I really like your blog, and I reckon that, with a little bit of thought and planning, you could do really well.

Some great advice here and for me neb is right on the money when he says to work the groups, dating and social network sites. Get on there and flirt like crazy. As Bakdoor says you have a homemade product to sell and so there is no real need to send your visitors elsewhere on the chance of a small commission.

When it comes to how much traffic you need then set yourself a target income. Say you want to make $700 a week then that means you have to have twenty sales. If you are getting 100 uniques a day at the minute and making a sale every day then clearly you need to increase to 300 uniques a day to hit your target .

imo You should look at widening your product range a little too worn socks and used dildos are two options you might consider.

Damn I still have lots to learn. Glad I had part of it right. Listen to these people, they have yet to steer me wrong. I try to apply everything they suggest and I have nothing but positive results from it.

Great advice from everyone.... however has anyone considered the possibility for the transmission of disease to the purchasers of used panties and especially used dildos ???

I hate to be the killjoy, but if the panties or other objects have bodily fluids on them, there is a real possibility of transmission. In the adult movie industry we are being closely looked at by the department of health and Cal-OHSA for the possible transmission of disease through bodily fluids. Cal-OSHA is starting to require that studios have blood-borne pathogen policies in place for shoots.

I would also have to advise Christy to check her local health and public safety laws to see if she is in fact in violation of any codes for just selling these items.

I agree that her main panty selling blog shouldn't have traffic leaks, but I do think an additional blog about her fictional experiences on dating sites would A)get bookmarks if the stories are erotic B) be a good feeder blog and C) earn additonal money D) it doesn't have to be mailed to someones house E)my original thought on this was just me thinking of ways for her to make more on average off of each visitor rather than building traffic, which is a mistake on my part since that should always be the first thought.

It doesn't have to be AFF it could be any of them, but think if TuckerMax had said in every fourth or fifth story he met the girl from a specific dating site.

Edit: Tucker Max's blog has a huge following in the US for men now in there early 30s down to college age.
